Students, faculty, and staff can access the UConn network via the Pulse Secure client, a VPN software, allowing them to access on-campus resources away from campus.

Installing and Configuring Pulse Secure Client for iOS and Android Devices 

The Pulse Secure client app is available for iOS and Android mobile operating systems. Visit the Google Play Store or Apple App Store  to obtain it.

Installing and Configuring Pulse Secure Client for Linux

Please use the following instructions to configure your VPN client.

  1. Please visit the Pulse Secure Client page on the software site to choose the download that is appropriate for your OS.

Installing and Configuring Pulse Secure Client for Windows and Mac OS X

Please use the following instructions to configure your VPN client. After installing, users should login via the client and not the "Connect" button at vpn.uconn.edu

  1. Please visit the Pulse Secure Client page on the software site to choose the download that is appropriate for your OS.

    Mac OS 10.15 - Catalina

    Mac users who upgrade to Catalina (macOS 10.15) may need to uninstall the Pulse Secure client and reinstall it if they find the application no longer functions after the upgrade.

    Apple OS X   - If you are running Mac OS 10.13, 10.14, or 10.15 please follow these instructions. Failure to follow the instructions provided in the link may cause the Pulse Secure client to not function properly.

  2. Run the downloaded installer.

    Some OSX users may need to command-click/control-click, and then select Open if an error about an unidentified developer is encountered.

  3. Launch the installed application.
  4. Click the "+" button to add a new connection and enter "vpn.uconn.edu" for the "Server URL" and "UConn VPN" for the "Name"
  5. If "Type" is requested, choose the option that lists SSL-VPN.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Connect.

  8. Enter your NetID and password into the form.

  9. Click Connect again.

  10. You should now be successfully connected and able to access UConn resources.

Pulse Secure VPN client software is compatible with a wide range of operating systems and configurations. It is available for Windows, Mac OSX, Android and iOS mobile devices.
