Faculty can teach via video-conferencing in the video-conferencing-enabled (VTC) rooms located on every UConn campus. These video conferencing systems allow users to join Webex calls, and connect to other UConn/non UConn VTC rooms for intra-university distance learning.
Available Classroom Types
UConn has three types of video conferencing classrooms available.
- Full: You can teach to and from these classrooms via a WebEx connection or with a similarly equipped room on campus. These rooms are used for intra-university distance learning.
- Teach From: You can teach from, but not to, these classrooms via a WebEx connection or from another VTC equipped room. Your remote students can see you and your content and you can see and interact with them.
- Seminar: You can teach to and from these rooms via a WebEx connection or from another VTC equipped room, since the camera is pointed at the conference table.
These rooms are controlled by a touch panel on the teaching station, which gives the user full control over all audiovisual features in the classroom. For more information about operating the touch panel, review the Classroom Quick Start Guide.
The table below displays the three different types of rooms, along with their respective available features.
